My name is Kirsty and I am Glow Yoga.
I have been living yoga since my very first experience of a class in 2001 in Byron Bay, Australia, when I was travelling with my now husband. It blew my mind! It felt so right, so natural, so real, and I just knew yoga was my calling (despite having graduated with a BA Hons some months before!).
After I returned from travelling in 2002 I immediately started attending weekly classes and soon completed my British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course. It was during this time that I found out about the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and I enrolled on a Sivananda Intensive Teachers Training Course in Lithuania, which I completed in 2006.
In late 2006 my husband and I fulfilled a lifelong ambition and emigrated to Perth, Australia, where I was fortunate enough to attend many different yoga classes and thus experience many different styles, including Asthanga and Iyengar, and I began teaching my own Sivananda Yoga Classes in late 2006.
In 2010 I met Dr Alex Armstrong, Founder of Flow Yoga, and began my Diploma of Yogic Science under him, teaching at his studio and shadowing his classes.
My daughters were born in 2008 and 2013, and I have yoga to thank for the healthy pregnancies and completely natural births of both my girls. It was during my pregnancies that my yoga journey deepened even further. I had always honoured and embraced the beauty and power of yoga, but it was only when I wasn’t so easily able to challenge myself physically in the Asanas that I turned my focus to a more intuitive, healing and meditative approach, and the results amazed me; not only throughout my pregnancies and births but far beyond. From this, and drawing on the influence of my most respected teachers and past experience, I cemented my own style and really began teaching from the heart.
I continued to teach in Perth throughout my pregnancies and after them, until my husband and I returned back to the UK with our girls in 2014.
In September 2014 I began Glow Yoga, teaching Yoga classes in Fleet and Church Crookham.
With yoga I feel utterly "home"; supple, centred, calm, balanced, content, and ultimately, HAPPY. I enjoy and relish the wonderful life-long journey that is yoga, and I continue to grow and learn as I personally practise, teach, study and attend classes.
